We focus on the formulation and process variables that determine whether a powder remains consistent from the first serving to the last. Vici can pack powders in bottles, jars, tubs, or pouches. We can also provide powders in bulk for subsequent third-party packaging.

Designing the Blending Process

A blending process should be designed around the actual formula and equipment. Vici considers ingredient screening, premixes, sequence of addition, blender loading, mixing time, intensifier or manual interventions when appropriate, transfer steps, hold time, and filling method.

More mixing is not automatically better. Excessive blending can promote segregation, degrade fragile particles, or change flow. The appropriate process is the shortest controlled sequence that consistently produces an acceptable blend.

Powder Development and Scale-Up

What Makes a Powder Blend Difficult?

Differences in Particle Size and Density

Fine, light particles and coarse, dense particles do not behave the same way during transfer and filling. If their properties are poorly matched, a uniform blend can separate before it reaches the consumer.

Low-Dose Ingredients

A small quantity of one component must be distributed across a much larger mass of other ingredients. Premixing, geometric dilution, order of addition, screening, and sampling strategy become important.

Hygroscopicity and Caking

Moisture uptake can reduce flow, create clumps, accelerate degradation, or change the consumer experience. Formulation, environmental controls, processing time, and packaging protection all affect the outcome.

Flavor and Mouthfeel

Proteins, minerals, botanicals, amino acids, and other ingredients can introduce bitterness, astringency, earthy notes, metallic taste, grittiness, or lingering aftertaste. Flavor intensity alone may not solve the problem.

Testing a Powder Product

Testing may include identity, selected ingredient or marker assay, blend uniformity, serving-weight evaluation, moisture or water activity when relevant, microbial quality, heavy metals or other contaminants, physical observations, dispersibility, and stability.

Sampling design matters because a single composite result may hide segregation. The number and location of samples should reflect the formula, batch size, process, and consequence of nonuniformity.

No. Vici does not currently offer stick-pack packaging. Stick-pack manufacturers commonly require minimum orders of approximately 150,000 units or more, making this format difficult to justify for early-stage or small-volume products.

Yes. Vici can package powders in sachets for appropriate small-batch projects. Our sachet capability is intended for limited quantities and is not designed for large-scale commercial production.
